Synopsis: My client in the Engineering/ Mining Industry is seeking the expertise of a Quality Control Inspector (Turbo Generators and auxiliaries) to join their team. Salary is highly negotiable depending on qualifications and experience. Minimum Requirements:

·         A minimum of 5 years Power Plant turbo generator centre-line experience is required with 2 years experience as quality inspector on turbines and generators

·         Supervisory experience in turbine centre-line will be an added benefit, as will SAQCC Level

·         Good knowledge of OHS/SHE Act

·         Qualified trade fitter and turner with NTC 3 with Maths, Science, Engineering drawings and Mechanotechnology

·         Comprehensive knowledge of turbo and Generator plant as well as associated auxiliaries

·         Must be able to acquire information from drawings, calculate tolerances

·         SAQCC Level 1 will be an advantage

·         Familiar with non-destructive evaluations

·         Working (operating and using) with measuring equipment – micrometers and dial indicators

·         Computer Literacy:

o   MS Office

o   MS Word

o   Excel

o   PowerPoint and

o   Outlook

·         General good health

·         Will be required to undergo medical examination

·         Be prepared to perform inspections after hours (other than normal working hours)

Key Performance Areas

 

·         Compile process quality plans for the entire project and submitted to the relevant Production Engineering Department managers and Specialist for their approval

·         Ensure that all process quality plans and check-sheets are implemented and controlled

·         Ensure that quality is never compromised and if and when necessary, after consultation with the relevant Manager put work on HOLD until quality issues are resolved

·         Responsible to physically measure, verify and sign-off on hold points on quality control plan

·         Ensure that all documentation is signed off and filed correctly

·         Maintain and update non-conformances and concessions on component registers

·         Provide daily feedback in the technical meeting or to QC Coordinator on problems and deviations arising from work performed

·         Ensure that all hold and Witness points are adhered to and signed off

·         Ensure that all activities are controlled in terms of the OHS Act

·         Ensure that all working copy check sheets are signed and dated and that all dimensions required are completed

·         Control all working copy check sheets and compile master copy check sheet files for reports and future reference purposes

·         Plan and prioritize projects in a systematic manner

·         Keeping record of all sub standard acts and corrections

·         Establish and maintain a safe working environment

·         Develop, maintain and update accurate equipment records and drawings, and build user-friendly access systems

·         Actively participate in Kelvin Power Refurbishment Task force

·         Pro-actively analyze, diagnose and resolve problems to minimize operational downtime and enhance plant efficiency

·         Actively participate and encourage good housekeeping, teamwork and upholding of superior standards and general maintenance in the Plant

·         Adhere to and be fully conversant with Plant Safety and general Codes and Regulations

·         Be willing to learn and assist in all aspects of operations and maintenance

·         Liaise with AIA representative, Kelvin representative and Kelvin Production Engineering representatives

·         Witness and verify status of components and work performed off-site or on-site

·         Inspection reports to be generated where inspections were performed

·         Work according to the Kelvin Quality Management System and continuously edit the system for improvements

 

Remuneration

 

Market related depending on qualification and experience.
